NuQuest leverages its partners’ relationships and extensive experience in the oil & gas industry along with project development experience to build a robust, renewable energy portfolio.
NuQuest Energy II, LLC develops with an “owner mentality”. All of our projects focus from start to finish on cost-effective renewable energy solutions. The company uses proprietary systems that result in de-risked renewables site selection, increasing the probability of project success.

KIRK BARRELL
CEO & Co-Founder
With an extensive forty-year tenure in the energy sector, Kirk Barrell stands as a seasoned industry veteran. Over the past thirty years, he has been a driving force behind the establishment of multiple enterprises, including Barrell Energy, Barrell Lithium, and Amelia Resources, where he serves as President. In 2021, he co-founded NuQuest Energy to focus on renewable energy project development across the Gulf Coast.
Mr. Barrell's extensive expertise spans a diverse spectrum across the energy landscape, with his current focus encompassing oil, natural gas, solar, data centers, CO2, and lithium. His educational foundation is firmly rooted in geology, with degrees earned from Louisiana State University and Texas A&M University.
Throughout his career, Barrell has consistently demonstrated his commitment to advancing and diversifying the energy industry, making him a prominent and influential figure in this dynamic field.
ALEX GUITART
COO & Co-Founder
Alex Guitart is an AAPL-registered Land Manager with 17 years of experience in the energy industry. Alex directs NuQuest II's renewables development efforts in MISO South, including Louisiana, East Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi. His skills include land acquisition and site control negotiations, concept-to-completion project management, regulatory permitting, and real estate title. Alex has years of deep-rooted relationships with energy companies and landowners across the Gulf South. Alex is a past president and current board member of the Professional Landmen's Association of New Orleans.
SERVICES
NuQuest Energy II, LLC is an early-stage renewable energy developer focusing on greenfield pipeline growth for partner IPPs and utilities. The company leverages experience across the entire project development process from start to finish and incorporates extensive engineering, grid knowledge, and land expertise. Our development offering includes a detailed transmission analysis comprising an interconnection assessment, engineering studies, and an energy yield analysis. Our engineering team performs a full technical evaluation of transmission integration and cost/return analysis.
NuQuest Energy II, LLC is actively developing a greenfield portfolio of 40+ utility-scale renewable energy projects.
